Abstract:  Mulch film weatherability and crop production data was collected for up to five years at multiple North American sites.  Tomato, Muskmelon, Zucchini, Pepper, Calabasa, Basil, and Strawberry were grown at sites in Quebec, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, California, and Sonora.  The effects of black, white, silver, and colored films on multiple fruit characteristics were evaluated at the sites.  Additionally, the effect on crop production, of pigment loading and carbon black particle size contained in the films, is explored.  Data is presented comparing the influence of film color on crop yield and the impact of stabilization packages on film tensile properties at the different sites.  Research objectives for the 2002 growing season are probed.
