Galia cultivar had the highest water consumptive use (CU) (0.83 and 0.77 m3/m2 in the first and second season, respectively) and water use efficiency (WUE) (7.27and 7.46 kg m-3 in the first and second season, respectively). Potassium foliar application caused higher water consumptive use for the three muskmelon cultivars. The highest total yield (6.01and 5.73 kg m-2 in the first and second season, respectively) and grade A yield (4.07 and 3.80 kg m-2 in the first and second season, respectively) was produced by Galia cultivar using foliar application of potassium with the first irrigation treatment (30 min. every day). We can recommend irrigation for 30 min every day and foliar application of potassium for higher yield and good quality of the muskmelon c.v. Galia under plastic greenhouses in El-Arish region. |
