Abstract: A series of agronomic experiments has been carried out in Italy and France to evaluate the effect of diffused light, coming from the stabilization package used for PE greenhouse films, on crop growth. For this reason a few crops have been selected (e.g. tomato, lettuce) and checked, with special attention to light-limiting conditions such as winter and autumn, in order to verify if the new HALS stabilization system (TINUVIN® 492, TINUVIN® 494 used alone and in combination with CHIMASSORB® 81, all from Ciba Specialty Chemicals), when compared with traditional ‘transparent’ HALS system, can also offer advantages from the agronomic point of view.
