Plasticulture ‘08
Our Mission:
The American Society for Plasticulture strives
to improve the economic efficiency of
agricultural systems through the use of plastics
in various aspects of plant and animal
production, manufacturing, packaging, and
distribution; and through environmentally sound
recovery and reuse. This is accomplished by
promoting plastics science and technology, by
providing a forum for the exchange of
plasticulture ideas and information, and by
encouraging innovation.
About ASP:
ASP represents a great diversity of interests
and uses of agricultural plastics, including
greenhouse coverings and thermal barriers,
horticultural containers, postharvest film
wraps, plastic mulches, irrigation systems,
netting, tunnels, and spun-bonded row covers.
Supporters include those from the academic
community in research, teaching, and extension
appointments; those in the commercial industry
who manufacture, distribute, market, and provide
a wide range of related products and services to
the grower community; and the growers who
utilize this technology in their production
systems.
Those in horticulture, agronomy,
chemistry, physics, economics, pathology,
engineering, entomology, and meteorology
contribute to and benefit from the activities of
the organization. The common bond is an interest
in agricultural plastics technology, a
dedication to excellence in agricultural
plastics research, and the goal of bringing the
results of this research to the growers of the
world.

Where people with ideas . . .
Meet people who make things
happen
First
held nearly four decades ago, the National
Agricultural Plastics Congress brings together
leaders in plasticulture from throughout North
America and from as far away as Europe and
China. We would be pleased to have you
contribute your expertise at this world-class
event that has earned a reputation for the
cutting edge work that is shared. Present
research, facilitate a discussion, or offer a
brief industry update at Plasticulture ‘08 in
Tampa Florida, March 7 - 10, 2008. Your
knowledge and experience will help increase the
value of this two-day period of intense
intellectual sharing.
In addition to the recognition
gained by presenting before fellow researchers,
educators, suppliers, growers, and
representatives of manufacturers and
distributors, the abstract and/or research
report from your presentation will be included
in the widely distributed Congress Proceedings.
This record of cur-rent research in
plasticulture is in the permanent library of top
industry professionals. The papers also become
available world-wide through the ASP website.
In recognition of the global
nature of plasticulture and of the fact that
travel may be difficult from many parts of the
world, researchers unable to attend the Congress
can also publish their work independently in the
Proceedings.
Have your scholarly
contribution to plasticulture acknowledged at
the 34th National Agricultural Plastics
Congress:
-
Present a Research Report
or a Modified Research Report
-
Host a Discussion Session
-
Offer a Technical Short
-
Publish a paper in the
Congress Proceedings
-
Or, attend and contribute to
the discussions, which further the progress
in the use and promotion of agricultural
plastics. Reduced registration fees will be
available for students.
